For those of you know me personally, as a teacher or on Instagram, you will know have a slightly unhealthy love of yoga leggings. recently I cleared out my closet ( a birthday ritual for another post) and I noticed that my legging obsession had got slightly out of hand. Piles and piles of active wear had dominated my jeans and skirts so It was time to clear out some of my older legging to make space for theoretically jeans but most probably more leggings. As I was going through my lycra I come across several pair of leggings from the same brand, none of which I was even close to being prepared to part with.
Why this brand
The leggings were all from a German brand by the name of Hey Honey. Hey Honey clothing is made in Europe and is officially certified as „PETA – Approved Vegan“ by the official PETA organization. This certification is given to fashion brands that are entirely committed, dispensing with the use of animal Products so we are off to a good start!
This Hamburg based brand creates truly beautiful pieces. Each pair of leggings are unique with a fun flare of colour and design elements whilst being well up to the job of keeping everything in place during a class! I like to get my flow on during my practice so I expect a lot from my leggings and I can safely say Hey Honey doesn’t disappoint.
The feel and impression
Each pair are made from a blend of materials that makes the leggings breathable, antibacterial, moisture wicking and fast drying. So you can sweat all you want, even at a hot yoga class, and still manage to be presentable in your leggings afterward, think yoga and brunch. All their leggings feel very snug and supportive with high waste bands to help ‘hold’ anything you have going on in this area, you know what I mean.
All the leggings I have tried are completely opaque! This is a MUST when it comes to finding your perfect pair of yoga pants. Nobody needs to see anyones underwear in downward facing dog and with all the fabric technology available, there really is no excuse if you are wearing the right size ( too small sometimes means see-through).
Hey Honey keep things fresh and are constantly upping their game every season bringing out new designs and collections each time. Over the past year I see Hey Honey everywhere. They are all over instagram, in blog posts, in magazines and lately in my classes! I have defiantly noticed a lot more students saluting the sun in this brand of yoga clothing and its great to see them representing a home-grown brand.
So, they are not cheap with leggings prices varying between 79-98 Euros. Yep, this is a lot of pennies but if you are going to invest in a pair of leggings, you could do a lot worse that these. You also have to bear in mind that these leggings are produced in Europe by a small company which always adds a little to a price tag. I think of Hey Honey as more of a premium/independent brand which helps to justify the price but of course not everyone agrees with this. You are able to find good leggings from other brands at a cheaper price. Its personal preference and of course budget.
I will be following Hey Honey to see how this company will grow and what they will be releasing in the future but I am pretty sure the idea of reducing my legging collection is in danger. Each season they release something completely new and on trend, something to tempt the legging lovers out there. At the moment Hey Honey is a very much German loved brand but its only a matter of time before our yoga friends in the US and UK clock on to this brand and start rocking a pair of Hey Honeys.
I will be very interested to see how the quality of the leggings changes as the brand expands. Hopefully it will not be affected but I will be keeping an eye out just in case as sometimes quality gets sacrificed for quantity.
