Some of you who see me on a daily basis will have noticed I have gone through a pretty drastic hair change in the past few months. It started a while back when I cut my very long hair to a long bob which I loved. This cutting spree escalated pretty quickly, the long bob became the short bob and then the short bob turned into a completely shaved head!
The cutting wasn’t where the drastic changes stopped, oh no there was colour involved to or to be more specific, a lack of colour. I shaved my hair off to reveal the grey situation I had been trying to hide for a very long time. In fact, I have been trying to cover up my grey hair from the age of around 13. Grey haired genes run strong in my female relatives so I always knew the day would come where I had to make a big hair decision I just didn’t expect this to come so early.
Change can be tough and I really wasn’t loving the idea of just letting my roots grow. I have never loved the way this looked so I decided to shave my hair completely as an opportunity to start again. I saw it as a chance to reconnect with my natural hair situation. It was not a Britney melt down which was suggested a few times!
I am really enjoying the process at the moment and I am defiantly wanting to share this experience with anyone who is interested so I will be doing a little blog series to talk about whats going on and where my head is at on the grey journey. I really hope that by starting a dialogue around all things grey, we can begin to see its not really scary at all!
Keep tuned for my next Going Grey blog post and please get in touch to share your experiences!
